Exalted in Chains

Every once in a while, I think about his subject. I wonder how far I should go with authorities. Of course, I must submit to them. (Rom. 13). However, do to the way our gov. works, I must submit to them as much as they are rightly defining the laws by which we live. In an age of "deconstructionism," how long will it be that words that are law have no meaning, and are 100% subject to the judicial interpreter.

In reading Philippians 1, there are a few hints to help answer the question, "how far should I go?"
  1. 12 But I want you to know, brethren, that the things which happened to me have actually turned out for the furtherance of the gospel,....." It seems a good thing to keep in mind is that God's Kingdom is first. Not that I get my way, but due to whatever circumstances one might be in with authorities, I know that the Gospel will now make ripples because of the "things which happened."
  2. 13 so that it has become evident to the whole palace guard, and to all the rest, that my chains are in Christ; It should be apparent that the motive for the persecution is for Christ. If, as the circumstance unfolds, I believe that what is happening would be seen as a political statement, government defiance, or some sort of strike, then I may want to back off since it will not be obvious that "my chains are in Christ."
  3. 14 and most of the brethren in the Lord, having become confident by my chains, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.
This will inspire the church, not confuse them.
  4. 20 according to my earnest expectation and hope that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death. The end goal of whatever decision that is made is that Christ gets the glory through some busted clay!
Father, give us strength to stand, and humility to bow, and the wisdom to make a good decision.
